Sensoria Festival 2012
I worked for sensoria this year, and was really glad i did. Sensoria beings together alot of hidden/ less known creative artists in Sheffield. I staffed allot of events, and also worked in the office with the lovely Jo and Kat. I saw gigs and live re-scores of bizzare films. Played crazy art Golf, and I also saw an animation night at DaDa Bar- hosted and introduced by one of my favourite artists Pete Mckee (some of his work shown below.) its a brill festival showcasing allot of Sheffield creativity and i would strongly recommend it - especially as its in April , meaning it doesn't clash with other festivals.
I took this photo in S1 art space where a few of the events were held. not sure why the festival organizers are in possession of the old Roxy sign, (from O2 academy building) but I think its pretty cool.

Sheffield pride 2012 (endcliffe park)
Pride was a bit of a disappointment this year to be honest. It drizzled most of the day, and alot of the stalls at the festival were either empty or just giving out panflets. The music was good though, especially a female solo artist ( reminiscent of a a female Ed Sheeran) who's lyrics were funny- but who's name i cant remember. My friend Laura (seen in the picture) had a good time sipping pink cocktails and giggling at a dress made of condoms. >

Peace in the Park 2012 (Pondarosa)
Peace in the park is an awesome Sheffield festival. This festival really reminds me of why I love my home town so much. Full of great music, food , creative stalls, and generally happy people its my kind of festival. I saw Sheffield ska/reggae band Smiling Ivy there for the first time live and LOVED them. They are now one of my new favourite bands. They remind me of Sublime, and in my opinion they are just as good. Over all a brilliant day, only to come to an end too soon - as I had to go work a shift at my theatre job.

This year i worked as an Oxfam Steward at Leeds fest.
It meant i got the festival for free, (after a £200 deposit). But it meant i had to work three 8hour shifts (this year in the rain and mud!).
Overall i'm glad i did it (although i think i'll give it a miss next year), and the Oxfam team are brilliant, but it was a long one! i was there for a full week and camping that long without washing properly is never nice!
The tea buggy during shift and 3 free hot meals were a godsend after an 8 hour shift in the freezing cold - although chips for breakfast was a bit odd...as was the chicken curry.
Despite all the complaining it was worth it.  A big thanks goes out to all the lovely oxfam people i camped and worked with , especially Laura , Jim , and  JJ , who made my last shift go by much easier!

The festival in general - was pretty darn good as always. (although i missed MUSE :( ) . Highlights for me included Seeing the Vaccines live for the first time. The atmosphere in the NME tent was incredible. Everyone sang along to every song (including me VERY loudly - sore throat came on after) The vaccines have amazing stage presence , and amazing catchy songs making them perfect for festival playing. I cant wait to see them again at O2 academy in November!
Also 'The Naked and Famous' were pretty darn good, as were 'Does it offend you? yeah.' And of course Frank Turner.

All topped off with Pulp (guest starring Richard Hawley) on the Sunday night. A perfect way to end the festival with confetti guns and sing along anthems. - Although if you ask me, as much as i love him Jarvis Cocker's getting a bit old for all that vulgar thrusting on stage.

The thing everyone who went to leeds this year will remember will be the mud, which was  was oh so very deep! Not helped by the fact that my wellies split down the heel on the first day!

Big Love to everyone who was at Leeds this year<3 ,
thanks for another good one.

This year I went to Ynot festival in Derbyshire!
(5th-7th Aug 2011)
It was amazing fun and will defo. be going again next year.
Its a smaller festival but with big names headlining. This year Feeder, The Rifles, The go Team, Miles Cane and Maximo park were the big names playing. All were amazing - especially Miles Cane and the Rifles, although the best thing about the festival for me was the really friendly and safe atmosphere (which you dont get at bigger festivals), and also the lovely group of people i met. Heres one of my fave snaps from the weekend. >>>
